Painting No - 01

This typical lane inside Bhaati depicts life after 10 o’clock when women peep from their respective balconies to pick quarrels which suddenly subside when man selling vegetables over hand-drawn carriage announces menu for the day. Baskets are lowered with ropes, more enterprising ones themselves go to select and choose while the lone goat too hopes to get some green leaves. These streets are dark and quiet most of the day punctuated by highlights over the balconies and parapets and the occasional fluttering of pigeons and paper kites.

The house seen in the distance appears in more detail in Painting No. 16
